Marriage Therapy with a Unique Approach to Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder
Break Free Together: Specialized OCD Treatment with Couples Counseling
Are you and your partner struggling under the weight of OCD? Do intrusive thoughts, compulsions, and anxiety feel overwhelming—not just for one of you, but for your relationship as a whole?
Welcome to a new path: comprehensive, root-focused OCD treatment for couples.
Why Couples-Specific OCD Therapy?
OCD isn’t just an individual struggle—it can shape the dynamics of a marriage or partnership, influencing communication, intimacy, and day-to-day life. Often, couples find themselves managing symptoms together, yet feel isolated from each other, misunderstood, and powerless against the cycle of obsessions and compulsions.
Traditional OCD treatment tends to focus only on the individual, overlooking how OCD can weave itself into the fabric of a relationship. As one of the only marriage therapist in Fort Worth, Texas offering specialized OCD therapy for couples, I understand how deeply this disorder can impact both partners. Here, you’ll discover an approach that treats the root of OCD—not just the symptoms—while nurturing the connection between you and your spouse.
Unique, Integrated Approach
Your journey with OCD is unique, and so is your relationship. My practice goes beyond standard symptom management to address the underlying drivers of OCD, using evidence-based therapies tailored for couples.
· Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP): The gold standard for OCD treatment, ERP gently and systematically helps you face your fears and resist compulsive behaviors. In couples therapy, ERP is adapted to explore how rituals and avoidance impact both partners, creating opportunities for shared healing and resilience.
· Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT): ACT fosters psychological flexibility—helping you and your partner accept difficult emotions and thoughts, while committing to values-driven action. Together, you’ll learn to move beyond OCD’s grip with compassion, clarity, and confidence.
· Internal Family Systems (IFS) Therapy: IFS goes deeper. It helps identify and heal the systems that drives obsessive fears or compulsions, while also empowering you to recognize how these patterns play out within the relationship. Couples learn to support each other’s healing journeys, cultivating empathy and trust.
What Sets Authentically Rooted Counseling Apart?
Unlike other counselors who offer general OCD treatment, my expertise is rooted in marital and family systems. I am committed to:
· Root-Cause Exploration: While managing symptoms is important, true healing means uncovering what fuels OCD beneath the surface—unresolved emotions, old wounds, or relational patterns. You’ll learn to identify triggers, understand their origins, and transform your relationship with them.
· Couple-Centered Healing: OCD can divide couples with secrecy, frustration, or misunderstanding. My approach restores connection by making both partners active participants in treatment. You’ll learn communication strategies, shared coping tools, and ways to support each other.
· Customized Therapy Plans: Every couple receives a PDF and Print tailored plan to hang on your Refrigerator, based on your specific needs, history, and goals. Therapy is collaborative, transparent, and flexible—evolving with your progress.
· Whole-Person Wellness: OCD touches every aspect of life. We address emotional, relational, and practical challenges—building resilience in every domain.
Is This Approach Right for You?
If you and your partner are ready to move beyond coping and toward genuine healing, this program is designed for you. Whether OCD is newly diagnosed or a long-standing challenge, whether you’ve tried therapy before or are just beginning your journey, you’ll find support, expertise, and hope here.
You may benefit from specialized couples OCD therapy if:
· OCD symptoms are creating conflict or stress in your relationship.
· You feel alone or misunderstood by your partner—or vice versa.
· Traditional individual therapy hasn’t addressed relational issues.
· You want lasting change, not just symptom management.
· Both partners are willing to participate and grow together.
